We're releasing an important new version of the Loop4Live remote scripts: This update involves a new way of configuring Loop4Live to make things easier: the aim is to no longer have to manually update the config.ini file.
There are now 3 ways to configure Loop4Live:
- Either via the Max for Live configuration plugin, which has been completely redesigned and allows you to modify and save all parameters from the Ableton interface without restarting it.
To use the plugin, you need either the Suite version of Ableton Live or a max for live license. - You can generate a configuration file via our website as before: Please note that the name of the generated file changes, as does its destination location, see below.
- Or manually as before.
With this update, a major difference lies in the location and renaming of configuration files, whether for scene mode, free mode or effects mode:
- configuration files are no longer located with remote scripts, but in Loop4Live's "Home" folder:
- For MacOs /Users/your user*/Loop4Live (* replace “your user” with the real name of your MacOS user)
- For Windows c:/Users/your user*/Loop4Live (* replace “your user” with the real name of your Windows user)
- configuration files are renamed :
- The old config.ini file becomes l4l_config: there are no changes to the file itself, the parameters remain the same
- For free mode configuration, the file is now called free_mode_midi_map.txt (no longer .ini).
- For effects, no change apart from the location in Loop4Live's "Home" folder.
Loop4Live's remotes scripts and Max For Live plugins will need to be updated jointly to take advantage of these updates.
A video presenting the new ways of configuring the pedalboard is available at https://youtu.be/15gFHtVKbGo
You can refer to the manual that has been updated with these aspects for further information.
Of note for pedalboards linked by the “linked” parameter: it is now possible to use the “Selection moves Loop4Live” parameter, which was previously disabled when using linked pedalboards.
See you soon!
